Lopez Landscaping & Tree Service

Services

Everything we do —in plain English.

We’ll quote any of these on-site. The price you get is the price you pay — no surprise add-ons, no upsells.

  • Tree Pruning & Trimming

Crown thinning, deadwood out, structural cuts done right for the post oaks, live oaks, and pecans Garland was built around.

We prune to the branch collar, never flush; we never top a tree. Live oaks and red oaks get pruned outside the oak-wilt risk window (February 1 – July 1) unless it is a hazard cut, and every cut gets sealed within 15 minutes per Texas A&M Forest Service guidance — that is the single most important thing a crew can do to prevent oak wilt in Dallas County. Post oak, pecan, cedar elm, crape myrtle, bois d’arc — we know what each one wants and when.

  • Tree Removal

Storm-damaged, dead, leaning, or in-the-way trees taken down in pieces — no fence damage, no scraped sod, no surprises.

We climb and rig down in sections rather than crane-and-flatten. Lower limbs into a tarped landing zone, the trunk in controlled chunks, chipper on-site for the brush. Garland’s older blocks (Embree, Travis College, Duck Creek) sit on tight lots with mature canopies pressed up against rooflines and fences — we work in those conditions every week. Stump grinding billed separately if you want it.

  • Stump Grinding

Stump ground 6–8 inches below grade, chips backfilled or hauled, sod-ready surface left behind.

Self-propelled grinder on tracked wheels — fits through a 36" gate. We grind 6–8" below grade, rake the chips back into the hole or load them into the chipper truck, top with screened soil if you want to seed or sod over it. Common after a storm-removal job; we usually package the two together for a better rate.

  • Sod Installation

Bermuda, zoysia, or St. Augustine — graded, laid in a tight brick pattern, rolled, with a watering schedule you can actually follow.

Soil prep, light grading where the yard needs it, fresh sod laid in a brick-pattern with tight seams, rolled in, and a printed watering schedule for the first three weeks. We come back at week two to check root contact and fix any seams that lifted. Bermuda and zoysia handle Garland’s heat the best; St. Augustine for shaded yards.

  • Pavers, Pots & Rock Work

Paver patios, walkways, decorative-rock beds, and pot installations — the hard-surface side of a yard, done to last.

Concrete pavers and natural stone, set on compacted base with a geotextile underlayment, edges locked with polymeric sand. River-rock and decorative-gravel beds for low-water zones. Large terra-cotta and concrete pots installed and planted to your taste. We do the boring foundational work right so the surface stays level a decade later.

  • Landscape Beds & Mulch

Hand-pulled weeds, fresh hardwood or cedar mulch, perennials pruned at the right time of year — beds that look tended.

Hand-pulled weeds (no glyphosate near edibles unless you ask), seasonal pruning timed to each plant, and a fresh mulch top-up in spring and fall to keep moisture in and weeds suppressed. Hardwood, cedar, or dyed black — your call.

  • Weekly Mowing

Crisp, even cut every week — front, back, side yards, edged borders, blown-clean walks before we leave.

Weekly during the growing season (typically March – November in Garland), bi-weekly on the shoulders. Sharp blades, mulch-cut by default, height adjusted seasonally so the lawn keeps moisture through Texas summer. Edged at every visit, walks and drives blown clean before we leave the property.

  • Edging & Trimming

Power-edged borders along beds, walks, and drives — and string-trim where the mower cannot reach.

A clean, deliberate edge that stays sharp the full week, careful trim work around fence posts, trees, mailboxes, and AC pads, and a final pass with the blower so nothing carries to the patio.

  • Spring & Fall Cleanups

Full-property reset twice a year — leaves, sticks, dead growth out; mulch, edges, and beds reset for the season.

Spring: cut back perennials, remove winter debris, edge beds, refresh mulch, prep the irrigation. Fall: bag pecan and oak leaves, blow out beds and gutters from the ground, cut back what wants cutting, prep the lawn for the cool months.

Starts at $220 · per visit

  • Hedge & Shrub Trimming

Boxwood, holly, photinia, esperanza, crepe myrtle — shaped clean and timed so they bloom on schedule.

Hand-shaped shrubs (we never just run a hedger blindly across a flowering shrub), timed to the plant rather than the calendar, and the clippings hauled off the same day in the chipper truck.

  • Sprinkler Tune-Ups

Spring start-up, summer adjustments, head replacements — and we fix the zone you keep meaning to call about.

Seasonal start-up, head replacements, broken-line repairs, controller programming, and a walk-through with you to make sure every zone is hitting what it should. Set up to comply with Garland’s twice-a-week summer watering rules.

Most weekly customers add cleanups, mulch, and the odd hardscape job — there’s usually a flat-rate way to handle that.
